Even when you have followed all the correct procedures you will need to defend against or respond to any charge levied against you by an employee.

- A report by ACAS for 2007/2008 shows a rise of 44 per cent in claims received by employment tribunals
- The amount of compensation payable for unfair dismissal has a maximum limit of £63,000
- The current maximum amount that has been paid out at an Employment Tribunal is £58,400
- Two thirds of claims are settled before the hearing
- Do not underestimate your employees!
