If you have been reading our recent news articles, you will be aware of a steady increase in UK recruitment levels.
SHL has explored this further, speaking to more than 500 in-house recruiters to establish why they have been recruiting: the primary reason was found to be an increase in product and service demand.
12% of respondents have recently hired one to two new staff members.
One in four companies have implemented additional stages in their recruitment process, in an attempt to identify the most suitable candidates. This includes an increase in specified entry requirements (28%), further information required in an initial application (26%) and 'realistic job previews' (24%).
However, the longer recruitment process has been found to 'lose' some candidates, with alternative job offers being accepted, and in some cases candidates are dissuaded from ever applying.
