The Cost of Presenteeism...
The Work Foundation has found that 'sickness presence' could cost a company the same as, if not more than, sickness absence.
In today's recovering economy many employees fear that any absence may count against their records. However, the above findings suggest that employers and workers need to increase their awareness about the negative consequences of presenteeism to ensure optimum levels of productivity and staff well-being are maintained.
Employers are therefore encouraged to monitor levels of sickness presence in addition to absence, in order to gain a full picture of company health-related losses.
