A brief commute...
The nation's shifting working patterns has had a positive impact on traffic levels, allowing commuters to reach their workplace in an average of just under 48 minutes (a 10-year low!)
Home-working is just one of the named causes of this improvement, with government traffic management and alternative transport options also receiving praise.
In this instance time really does mean money, with the reduced commuting times saving up to £337m per day!!
TUC General Secretary, Brendan Barber: “Our analysis shows that flexible and homeworking doesn’t just benefit individuals and their employers. If more people are allowed to work from home we can make the daily commute shorter and more pleasant for everyone. We know there is still plenty of untapped demand for flexible and homeworking. And with commutes still costing a staggering £337m of working time every day, theres plenty more money and hours that can be saved by smarter working practices.
