The gift of dismissal..!

This advice follows the recent dismissal of an employee who accepted gifts from a Contractor.

In this particular case a tribunal deemed dismissal to be fair, despite the fact that the company's policy was not incorporated into the worker's contract; as the worker was fully aware that this was not appropriate practice.

As of April 2011 the Bribery Act will come into force, making it illegal for organisations to fail to enforce anti-bribery action via investigation and dismissal procedures.
