Salary discussions - rude or shy?!

Financial Website 'This is Money' has published research suggesting that British workers are too shy or embarrassed to discuss such matters, however this may in part be due to longstanding etiquette that deems such discussion as crass.

49% of survey respondents find the subject 'too sensitive,' for workplace discussion, with 27% keeping personal finance matters private from family and 15% from their friends.

The fact that 43% of the employees questioned are happy with their salary, further indicates that this may be an issue of core values, rather than embarrassment.

Interestingly, men are more likely than women to discuss salaries.
