Improve Your Focus!
British workers have become accustomed to some of the longest office hours in Europe, with staffing restructures increasing the daily workload for many. Such pressure can lead to employees feeling bogged down by admin, and unable to focus on the main tasks at hand. To this end Recruiter.co.uk has published its top tips for improving your focus and avoiding distraction, which are summarised as follows:
First Prioritise: consider your day ahead and mark out the most important items to be ticked off. This does not have to be an inflexible schedule, as it is likely that new tasks requiring your attention will arise throughout the day.
Apply your time: paying particular attention to when you are most productive. Allocate this time for those tasks that require the most energy and focus. The remaining time can be utilised for less urgent, more routine tasks.
Remove distractions: prevent unnecessary interruptions by advising colleagues of your unavailability for particular periods. Could you work more effectively in a quieter room/off-site? Can you turn your phone off for a while? Ensure you are available for urgent interruptions only.
Delegate and collaborate: if someone is better equipped to tick off a task, or can lend a helping hand, don't be afraid to ask for help.
Leave your work in the office: remember to disconnect yourself from your work at the end of the day. Allowing yourself some leisure time will provide the required rest-bite, enhancing your focus on your return to the office.
